I did these for Halloween and didn't think they'd last long, and here they are 2 weeks later still blowing in the breeze :-)
Initially inspired by 'International Yarn Bombing Day'. Her Hook is a yarn bombing crocheting alter-ego that enjoys adding a smattering of colour here and there

Valentine Tree
Had great fun decorating the tree in the carpark with hearts.
Was lovely to see the smiles on people faces, and a lady took a photo and knew we were yarn bombing :-)

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes..
Or that stay on a tree and are red and crocheted perhaps?
They are red in real life - just a strange greenish colour came from the phone; Christmas colours maybe? :-D

More Trees
Since the "Hug Me" tree lost it's sign I put a heart on one of the other trees in the carpark at work. It has been there for a few weeks now, in time for the RWC and in Italian colours or a Scottish tartan flavour perhaps? :-)

Container Cosy
I'm taking part in an enormous yarn bomb in Sumner in Christchurch. Copied from their facebook page:
"The Christchurch earthquakes have really rocked the Port Hills. To
protect us from more rock fall, massive shipping containers are now
lining the Sumner and Redcliffs streets. It is necessary however not a
beautiful sight, but we can change it!
Container Love is about prettying up these metal giant boxes.
The idea is to turn the unpleasant look of the containers into a positive feature for peop...le to enjoy and comment on.
The present project is a GIANT CONTAINER COSY made entirely out of knitted or crocheted squares
I WILL NEED: 30cm by 30cm KNITTED OR CROCHETED SQUARES
TYPE OF WOOL: DOES NOT MATTER, BUT BOLD AND COLOURFUL IS BEST
PATTERN: ANY WILL DO
WHERE TO SEND TO
email me (containerlove.christchurch@gmail.com) and I will give you my postal address, I can also pick up Christchurch and Lyttelton squares."
An update on other yarn bombs. Hug Me tree was taken down 2 weeks ago (by persons unknown), and has been replaced with a heart on the tree behind - picture to come soon :-)

Yarn Bombing in Cromwell
Cromwell is located in the valley of the Upper Clutha, deep in the heart of the dry interior of Central Otago. Home to the merino and deer farmer and to orchards and vineyards.
It has lots less ugly bits so it's tough to find something to make prettier.

International Yarn Bombing Day is Today!
I was a way from home so I wasn't as organised as I could have been.
I drove around Queenstown in the dark looking for a good place.
I ended up picking the lake.
This is my biggest yarn bomb so far and I was getting nervous the longer it took to tie things on. By the time I did the Telecom cosy (which was across the road), I was hiding from joggers & dog walkers behind phone boxes!
